  • Team and Enterprise differ in minimum seat numbers, pricing structure and administrative controls. These details are current as of October 2026. Check them with the provider.
  • A pilot with clear data rules can help you assess the benefits and risks for your own tasks.

What Claude means for businesses

Claude is a chat assistant. Staff can use it to draft text, structure longer documents or answer questions about content they provide. Its output remains a working draft that a responsible person must review. Before using it with confidential information, decide what content staff may enter. Product features may change. As of October 2026; check the details with the provider.

Choosing Claude for business therefore involves more than arranging access. First, establish who will use it, which day-to-day tasks it will support and whether central administration is needed. An individual account has different requirements from a shared, centrally managed space for a department. It also matters who decides on integrations and who is responsible for overseeing its use.

For businesses, the differences between Team and Enterprise are particularly relevant: Which administrative features do you need, how many seats are planned and how is usage billed? The overview below gives the provider’s prices in US dollars. As of October 2026; check all details and current prices with the provider.

According to the provider’s page, Team does not include audit logs, SCIM, role-based access, the Compliance API or custom retention. If your internal requirements call for any of these features, check this before starting a pilot. With Enterprise, usage-based charges are added to the stated seat price. The number of planned seats alone is therefore not enough for an internal cost estimate. As of October 2026; check features and billing with the provider.

Data privacy and company data

According to the provider, inputs and outputs from its commercial Team, Enterprise and API products are not used to improve models by default. Anthropic identifies two exceptions: feedback given by rating a response and explicit permission. For Free, Pro and Max, the provider describes a setting to opt out of this use. Take these differences into account when choosing a plan and setting rules for company data. As of October 2026; check the details with the provider.

According to the provider, when feedback is submitted, the feedback and associated conversation are stored for up to five years without being linked to user or customer identifiers. Organisation owners can disable chat ratings in the organisation settings. Check whether this feature fits your internal requirements and who will manage the setting. These details are also current as of October 2026 and should be checked with the provider.

The statement about model improvement does not answer every data protection question. Review the data processing agreement. Ask the provider about server locations and subprocessors. Define administrator permissions and document who may approve integrations. An AI policy should specify what types of data staff may enter, who reviews outputs and whom staff should contact if they are unsure. This is not legal advice.

When it may be suitable and when it may not

Claude may be suitable for a narrowly defined pilot if staff regularly prepare text or work with supplied content and a responsible person reviews the results. If several people are involved, document both their tasks and the need for central administration. According to the provider’s page, Team includes single sign-on, centralised billing and administration, and connector administration. As of October 2026; check these features with the provider.

Uncontrolled use is less suitable, particularly if staff enter confidential content without shared rules. If your requirements include audit logs, SCIM or role-based access, Team does not include these features according to the provider’s page. Enterprise lists them as additional features. This does not mean you should choose a plan on features alone. Review your requirements, responsibilities and the actual terms with the provider. As of October 2026.

What a chat assistant cannot replace

A chat assistant does not replace a defined process between your systems. If data needs to be transferred, checked and passed to other applications according to clear rules, you need suitable automation. If tasks need to be handled across several steps within defined limits, AI agents may be an option. In both cases, access, approvals and review of results must fit the process. A useful draft from a chat assistant does not resolve these organisational questions.

How to introduce it with appropriate controls

Start with a narrowly defined task rather than granting general access. Decide in advance how you will assess whether it is useful in day-to-day work during the pilot. Record errors as well as successful results. This will help you decide what to do next without treating individual examples as evidence of a general outcome.

  1. Define the pilot group: Choose a small group with clear tasks and a named person responsible. Specify which data may be used and how results will be reviewed. Record feedback on how the tool works in practice.
  2. Apply an AI policy: Set rules for permitted inputs, confidential data and output review in an AI policy. Review the data processing agreement and ask about server locations and subprocessors.
  3. Organise approvals: Decide who approves access, administrator permissions and integrations. Review the settings for chat ratings. Expand use only when responsibilities and rules have worked in the pilot. Introducing ChatGPT in your business describes further steps; the organisational questions also apply to a Claude pilot.
